There are a couple of basics to follow in order to have the most comfortable seating. First, make sure that there are 12 inches between the top of your seat to the top of the table. Then, check that there are at least 7 inches between the top of the chair arms to the bottom of the table apron (the strip of material under the tabletop).
If you have a standard-height dining table, check that the seat height is 18 inches off the floor so everyone can rest his or her feet on the floor.
Be sure to leave 6 inches on either side of each chair so that everyone has enough arm room!
