How to Check for Appliance Recalls
Being the owner of a malfunctioning fridge can be very upsetting. Your refrigerator may start to burn out, leak gas, or even explode. That will only lead to disaster.
The majority of trustworthy refrigerator manufacturers recall their goods as soon as they discover a defective component that can be dangerous. Samsung, meanwhile, hasn’t taken any initiative in this regard. More than 100,000 people most recently (as of January 2022) joined a Facebook group where they voiced their complaints about a faulty Samsung refrigerator. Our Colder’s team has done our research and has prepared this blog for our customers to stay informed about the Samsung refrigerator recall as well as offer some fridge alternatives from different brands if you need Samsung has been acting up.

Who: According to Consumer Reports, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received more than 600 consumer complaints concerning Samsung refrigerators between January 2019 and December 2021.
Why: Among the complaints about Samsung refrigerators are claims of broken ice makers and improper temperature maintenance.
Where: The recalled Samsung refrigerators were sold in the United States.
For more than 20 different refrigerator models, Samsung is currently the target of a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit describes flaws in the built-in door ice producers that lead to ice compartments that leak, slush, and freeze over. Additionally, there was freezing up, fan noise from an over-iced compartment, and water leakage from the ice maker to beneath the refrigerator’s crisper trays.
Numerous freezers reportedly stopped cooling entirely. Many owners hired repairmen, but they were unable to resolve the problem. Sometimes the issue was momentarily resolved, but later it reoccurs, leaving the fridge inoperable.
How Does a Recall Work?
The concerned company often acts when enough people voice their complaints about the same problem. A product recall aims to identify defective products or appliances by gathering consumer information and offering them a replacement or compensation.
Current Samsung Refrigerator Recalls
No Samsung products have been formally recalled as of yet. But class-action lawsuits were brought in 2010 and then again in 2017. Samsung is being compelled to pay attention as a result of the powerful Facebook group (Samsung Refrigerator Recall U.S.A. Now) that includes more than 100,000 owners of Samsung refrigerators.
The models on the Samsung refrigerator recall list are from their bottom freezer, side by side, and French door refrigerators categories. The following are the specific Samsung recall models in question:
- RF266AASH
- RS263BBWP
- RB1955SH
- RS2533SW
- RS267LASH
- RS267TDRS
- RS2630WW
Don’t panic if your refrigerator model doesn’t appear above but you’ve experienced the same issue. According to what we’ve read, this scenario applies to all Samsung refrigerators that have the same issue, in which the coils freeze over, and the refrigerator stops cooling.
What are the Samsung Fridge Complaints?
There have been hundreds of complaints about these recalled Samsung refrigerators in recent years. So, let’s hear from several owners of Samsung refrigerators:
Melissa W says:
“…nothing but problems with my Samsung icemaker since the beginning (over 5 years). I have had service several times over 5 years and it always starts leaking or freezing up again. We have given up and buy bags of ice now. Seriously hate this refrigerator. The worst! Would love to be able to replace with anything BUT Samsung.”
Carlos Ramos says:
“Hello I purchased a samsung refrigerator from homedepot. Nothing but problems few months after purchasing it. Ice maker worked 2momths. Every shelf inside of doors broke or cracked. Noise at times was bothersome and temperature was always up and down. On 11/19/2022 we returned home after a out-of-town trip for almost a week to be greeted with the stench of rotten food. Besides having to replaced over 200 in food I had to find replacement fridge. On today’s economic crisis. I’m sad to see corporations washing their hands after making billions on their customers.”
AriKesari Kanchanapalli says:
“We have similar issues with our Samsung refrigerator : Model : AF28HMEDBSR/AA, what ever [sic] food, milk, yogurt, juices we keep-in spoils do to the temperature issues, display shows 34F, however , it doesn’t maintain that temperatures inside, have an issue with the ice maker since the day of purchase. Greg Caison says:
“Bought Samsung refrigerator in approximately 2014 and have had ongoing problems with the door, the digital readout panel, and multiple issues with the very poorly designed ice maker. Many parts have been replaced including ice maker three times. One time the plastic tabs on the new ice maker broke while service tech was trying to install it!”
Paul R Hanson says:
“Purchased Samsung flex refrig [sic] with outside ice dispenser March 2021. After 6 months it stopped making ice. They replaced ice maker and worked fine until 6 months later. I replaced water filter. It than again stopped making ice. Samsung repair service again replaced ice maker which worked fine for about 6 months and stopped again. After replacing for third time they are billing me $363. After 2 and half years 3 repairs same problem.”
Chanel Tyus says:
“I purchased my side by side Samsung 3-4 years ago. At least once or twice a year the ice maker stops working and the refrigerator and freezer stop cooling. I’ve lost food to feed my family and have to waist [sic] money to see if this problem is repairable or if I just want to get rid of it.”

How to Check for Appliance Recalls
To begin, it is critical to understand the criteria used by the government to issue appliance recalls. Not all repair issues are reported by them. They emphasize safety issues and claim that the “potential of impact injuries brings about recalls.”
The procedures I used to find the Samsung washing machine recall detailed below are listed below.
- Visit https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website. Take note of the direct access to the appliance recalls section.
- Enter the appliance type you’re looking for in the search box in the top right corner.
- Appliance recalls from the past year or two are probably on the top page of the results, so scroll through them. The outcomes of my search for “washing machines” are shown below.
- You can even restrict your search to a certain brand, like Samsung, for appliances you already possess, as I have done here. Keep in mind that there are two entries for each recall: one in English and one in Spanish.
A recall of the Samsung refrigerator ice maker is likely to occur soon, given the volume of complaints and other issues. Visit a Colder’s shop in Milwaukee right away to browse our refrigerator selection if your refrigeration unit was affected by the Samsung refrigerator recall!
