    What is Convection Baking?

    by Colders Admin

The holiday season is one of the most popular times for new appliance purchases. While most features on appliances are fairly self explanatory, one that requires a little explanation is convection cooking in an oven.

How does a convection oven work?

There is a fan in the back of the oven with a heating element right behind it. When the convection baking feature is turned on, the fan turns on to circulate the airflow and keep a consistent and precise temperature in the oven.

Can I use the same baking directions for a convection and non-convection oven?

Most store bought food will have regular oven and convection oven baking directions.  If they don’t, use the “rule of 25”. Either lower your oven temperature by 25 degrees OR reduce your baking time by 25%.

What is the main benefit with a convection oven?

Temperature control.  Non-convection ovens click on and heat sporadically during baking.  With consistent air circulation and temperatures in a convection oven, you’ll get evenly baked Christmas cookies in the front or back of the tray every time!

Colder’s has dozens of convection ovens on display and in stock ready for all your holiday baking endeavours. Stop in today and ask one of our sales professionals to help you find the perfect oven to fit all your needs!
