Fun, but practical kid’s room design ideas

    by Jordan Weber

The first step on your way to success, pick a theme! The easiest way to decide on a theme is to base it off of your child’s interest - robot, jungle, cars, princesses, fairies, etc.

There are tons of themes to choose from, but to help, I’ve listed HGTV's most popular ideas:

    • Welcome to the Jungle

    • Out of This World (space)

    • Dino Decals

    • Safari

    • Slam Dunk

    • Comic Books

    • Dreamy Unicorns

    • Leggo

    • Hello Kitty

    • Rainbows

    • Sailing

    Step Two: Bed

A bed is the most important thing in the bedroom! There are tons of options when it comes to the way you style it- bunk beds, pull out bed, playhouse bed, high-rise bed. It should, however, match the theme you chose. For example, if you choose a jungle theme for your boy’s room, a treehouse bed would definitely make him king of the jungle. Don’t forget the most important part of a bed, the mattress!

    Step Three: Wall decor

Whether you're crafty and want to paint or you decide to throw up a decal, wall decor can really bring the entire theme together! There are various options to choose when deciding what to do with your walls.

    Examples:

    • Painting/mural

    • Stickers/decal

    • Chalkboard/whiteboard

    • Stars on ceiling

Step Four: Desk area, play area, rest of space, etc.

Now that you’ve got the bed all set, the rest of the space is yours! Besides the essentials - a nightstand, dresser, lights, etc., adding some things to play with can keep your kids occupied.

    Examples:

    • Desk - homework, artwork, etc.

    • Hammock
