Holidays are fun, chaotic, and a great excuse to spend time with family. Hosting this year? We can help make your guests feel right at home. Don’t know where to start? Here is a list of five steps to help reduce stress and get ready for your out-of-towners.
1. Back to the basics
Obviously, your guest bedroom needs furniture. Guest rooms typically have hand-me-down bedroom sets, and that’s ok! Best advice we can give? Keep it minimal. Think bed, dresser, nightstand, and lighting. With luggage and bodies, it’s better to have open space.
Dress up the room with a pretty bedspread and artwork on the walls. Join our Clearance Outlet Facebook Page to get brand-name items for great prices today!
2. All about the little things
Little touches go a long way. Consider leaving a chocolate on top of a pillow, or having water handy so guests don’t have to ask.
For the bathroom, make sure there are fluffy towels visible and that all the basic hygiene necessities are stocked. Buy a seasonal candle or some fresh flowers for an inexpensive, but meaningful touch.
3. WIFI
Feel awkward asking for someone’s Wifi password? Your guests might too. Make an adorable sign and use it as a decor item. Need inspiration? Check out some ideas on our Pinterest here. Most importantly, make sure your guests have easy access to plugs to charge their devices.
4. Clean, clean, clean!
Rooms can get musty if no one stays there for a while. Make sure to dust, vacuum, and launder everything (including rugs and extra blankets)! Your guests may not notice the extra effort you put in, but they will notice if you don’t.
5. Make sure you have a good quality mattress
Test your guest room mattress – if you’re not willing to sleep on it, your guest won’t want to either. Hand-me-down bedroom sets? Great. Hand-me-down mattress? Not so great.
