FAQ

Why Trust Colder’s?

Today’s customers increasingly look for durability in the brands they choose. Rowdy kids can wear down furniture quickly and can even break some pieces if they aren’t careful. Pets, large families, and busy lifestyles can all cause your furniture to age faster than you want. How do you know if a sofa or reclining chair will offer the durability you need?

FlexSteel furniture is developed with modern families in mind. It has quickly become one of the top brands sold at Colder’s because of its style and quality features. Learn more about FlexSteel and the furniture this company makes ―you might fall in love with your next sectional or living room couch.

FlexSteel Furniture: 130 Years of History

The FlexSteel company has been in business for more than 100 years, but it wasn’t always known by this name. In 1893, the Rolph & Ball Furniture Company opened and started selling upholstered furniture. The business was bought in 1901 by four tradesmen who would eventually develop the FlexSteel brand.

In the 1920s, the company started building furniture with an all-riveted blue steel base that was more durable than other forms of furniture. This Blue Steel Spring™ has never been matched. It is so reliable that in the 1930s, the company started guaranteeing the Blue Steel Spring for the life of the product.

The company continued to grow and market its steel spring technology until the 1950s, when it rebranded to FlexSteel to highlight the quality of the products. Flexsteel furniture continues to be a staple in American homes today and is a widely recognized brand in the home decor industry.

What Types of Furniture Does FlexSteel Make?

The foundation of FlexSteel furniture is its upholstered chairs, couches, and sofas. The company is known for its soft pieces that last. If you invest in a FlexSteel sofa, then you are choosing a piece that will look good in your living room for years and won’t wear out.

However, FlexSteel furniture extends beyond the living room. You can find bedroom seating and game room chairs, along with pieces for your home office. Outside of chairs, FlexSteel now makes tables, cabinets, and stools. This means you can choose a whole set for your bedroom or pair a FlexSteel couch with a matching coffee table.

FlexSteel is a diverse furniture brand. If you trust this company for your upholstered items, then you will appreciate the quality the brand brings to its other items – from nightstands to wine cabinets.

Get to Know a Few Top FlexSteel Products

One of the best ways to fall in love with a brand is to see the products they create. Here are a few top products that we carry at Colder’s that our customers have been happy to buy. FlexSteel furniture comes in a variety of sizes and shapes, which means you can find the right piece for your specific lifestyle.

FlexSteel chairs are one of the most popular items by this company. The FlexSteel recliners are known for their durability and their comfort. The Oscar collection, in particular, is designed for a timeless feel. The recliner can match most modern design trends but has a classic look that won’t easily go out of style. This is ideal for families that want to be comfortable in their homes without sacrificing fashion.

More customers favor power recliners because of their flexibility. A standard recliner only has a few settings (usually three or four different positions). However, with a power recliner, you can set the exact angle that you feel comfortable in and adjust your position within a few centimeters.

If you are shopping for a recliner, try multiple brands before you buy. You may find that you strongly prefer FlexSteel vs Lazy Boy or any other recliner out there.

If you are looking for a larger piece for your living room, consider the sofas offered by FlexSteel. A FlexSteel couch is so much more than a piece of furniture. It is a relaxation experience that you and your family can enjoy for years. For example, this FlexSteel reclining sofa allows you to set your reclining position at an ideal angle, with your feet in the air for maximum relaxation. However, this option also has a power headrest, so you can move your head forward to support your neck.

One of the most important parts of this recliner is the home button, which returns the sofa to its original position. Once you get up from the recliner, you don’t have to worry about the next person using your settings. They can set their own position easily and won’t be affected by your preferences.

The FlexSteel leather sofa is made with quality materials and comes in a dark brown color.

If you are in the market for a family-sized piece of FlexSteel furniture, consider the sectional options available at Colder’s. The Bryant Sectional comes with reversible plush seat cushions and accent pillows. The light gray fabric is made of an easy-to-clean material, which means your light sofa will look clean no matter how many years you own it.

This FlexSteel sectional has a loose pillow back, which is ideal for creating a comfortable setting. You can relax as a family and watch a movie together or gather with friends to enjoy coffee or wine night with the girls.

Not only is this sectional comfortable, but it’s also stable. It is made with bold block legs to support the frame and uses FlexSteel’s iconic Blue Steel Spring™ supports in the upholstered seating.

When to Choose a Sofa Versus a Sectional

As you consider different FlexSteel furniture options, you may wonder whether you should buy a sofa or a sectional for your living room. Both are comfortable options for relaxing during your free time, and both sofas and sectionals can fit families of different sizes.

The first thing to do is to consider the space. If your room is small, you might not be able to fit a sectional – or it could take up so much of the room that you don’t have space for anything else. You may be better off with a couch or a loveseat instead.

The next criteria to consider is how big you want the sofa to be and how many people it should fit. If you have a large family and you want to spread out, then a reclining sectional is a better choice. However, if you want to place multiple chairs and accessories in the room (or simply keep it open and minimalist), then a couch is your best bet. Do what is right for your style so you can create a living room you love.

FlexSteel FAQs

Is FlexSteel a quality brand?

FlexSteel is known for the durability of its designs. Since the company’s founding, it has focused on building furniture that can last. The FlexSteel name emphasizes the power of the Blue Steel Spring™ that supports each piece of furniture the company makes. This quality has kept customers buying from FlexSteel for generations.

Is FlexSteel furniture made in China?

Flexsteel is an American company that has many US-based factories to create its iconic pieces. However, the company works with a plant in China to create certain pieces. FlexSteel has multiple quality control processes in place to ensure every item sold matches their stringent standards.

What density foam does FlexSteel use?

Most FlexSteel cushions are made with a 1.8 density LC foam cushion. This is considered a moderate density that provides support while also helping the owner relax. Some pieces of furniture may be denser if they require added support. Ask about individual pieces if you are concerned about cushion density.
